 Myth
...I must have 30 years of service and be 60 years of age, to be eligible for retirement under Teacher's Retirement System...

Myth busted
...Employees can retire with 10 years or more at age 60; with 25 years of service regardless of age with a reduced benefit; and with 30 years of service are eligible for retirement at anytime, regardless of age.

...If I am thinking about retiring in just a few years, I don't need any information now...

...Most TRS retirements occur in May, resulting in increased processing time at TRS. February applications are generally recommended for May retirements.
