Job Summary |
Columbus State University has an opening for
a Distance Learning Technologist with
knowledge of instructional design and an
expertise in educational technologies used to
support or deliver instruction. Primary
position responsibilities include the
planning, training, operation, supervision,
and evaluation necessary for successful
online and/or two-way courses and programs.
Responsibilities include administration,
training, support, and assessment of WebCT,
Wimba, Tegrity, Podcasting, and other
applications; functional management of CSU
video-conferencing facilities; consulting
with faculty on teaching and instructional
design strategies appropriate for
traditional, hybrid, and electronic learning
environments; assisting faculty in the
conversion of materials and courses from one
delivery method to another; creation, or
assisting faculty in the creation, of
materials in a variety of formats
predominantly for web-based usage;
development of training tutorials, materials
and manuals; and selection, training, and
supervision of student assistants or
part-time staff engaged in distance learning
technology usage and/or projects. This is a
12-month professional staff position with
some evening and weekend hours. This
position is in the Distance Learning Design
and Delivery Department. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s
degree (education, communications, computer
science, or closely related field); Master’s
in Educational Technology or related field
preferred. Expertise with WebCT or other
course management system required; previous
experience with online academic courses
required; expertise with web page creation
and multimedia production required (ex:
Flash, JavaScript, XHTML); excellent
communications skills (face-to-face and via
electronic delivery technologies);
interpersonal skills; and organizational
skills required. The innovative and energetic
candidate must be able to work independently
and as a team member. Training or teaching
experience preferred; experience with Wimba,
Tegrity, and/or Podcasting applications
preferred; experience with video-conferencing
preferred; and experience with management of
projects preferred. A successful criminal
background check will be required as a
condition of employment. |
Salary Range |
The salary is $40,000 annually based upon education and experience. |
